Established in 2005, Just the Job is a charity and social enterprise project that empowers and supports adults with learning disabilities, mental health conditions, physical disabilities and dementia, from Richmond and surrounding rural areas including the Yorkshire Dales.

Just the Job runs activities based on its horticultural site allowing the Work Team Members to be recognised on their skills and talents rather than their disabilities ensuring sense of purpose. The charity aims to teach new skills, develop confidence and improve self-esteem.

Currently the team run paid services and projects which include gardening work services around Richmond, log chopping & firewood delivery services and selling handmade crafts made from natural products and recycled material. Further to this Just the Job’s polytunnels and gardens grow vegetables, fruit and plants available to buy onsite or in local shops in Richmond.

Since 2005, Just the Job has rapidly filled their present accommodation which is spread over four locations throughout Richmond, all of which are on short term lease. As such Just the Job are seeking to raise funds of £500,000 to build a state-of-the-art facility at one site on the Zetland Estates.

The £5,000 from The Pavers Foundation will contribute towards The Big Green Build project.

The Big Green Build is a sustainable building project which hopes to incorporate specialist rooms for activities, fully accessible toilets with changing equipment, multi-use outdoor areas and a dedicated horticultural spaces. Incorporating solar panels, a green roof, reed bed water infiltration, timber frame construction and straw bale insulation into the eco-build.

The new facilities will allow Just the Job to broaden their provision, supporting more individuals from Richmond and more remote areas as well as increasing the opportunity for employment with local businesses, joint work with other local projects and local schools, ultimately giving a more sustainable future through the community and the environment.

“The Pavers Foundation has made the first substantial donation towards our Big Green Build Project fund. The new base will help us to grow our services, develop closer links with local projects and give us a more sustainable future. It’s really exciting to envisage a new era for Just the Job, to be able to provide even better facilities and activities for our Team Members and all in one of the greenest buildings around”

Steve Biggs, General Manager Just the Job

The donation came after Anna Hamilton, Product and Creative Copywriter at our Head Office in York, applied through our grant application initiative to support the charity.

“I feel really privileged to work for a company that encourages its staff to help causes they feel passionate about. I know this donation of £5,000 will provide invaluable support for the team members of Just the Job for years to come and will enrich the communities in and around Richmond and the Yorkshire Dales. Over the years I have watched Just the Job grow and I’m really excited to see the next chapter in their Big Green Build story, I am really grateful for the very generous donation that the Pavers Foundation has made.

To think that every employee for Pavers Shoes, Jones Bootmaker, and Herring Shoes can make similar differences in communities throughout the UK and beyond is really empowering, I would urge any colleague considering applying for a grant through the Pavers Foundation to do so, good feels are definitely guaranteed!”with local projects and give us a more sustainable future. It’s really exciting to envisage a new era for Just the Job, to be able to provide even better facilities and activities for our Team Members and all in one of the greenest buildings around”
