Pavers Foundation Funds Marketplace Events for York Carers Centre

The Pavers Foundation have recently donated £2,000 to York Carers Centre on behalf of Christine and Steve McLeod, who both work at Pavers Distribution Centre in York. The pair applied for funding through the Pavers Foundation’s employee-led grant initiative scheme, which encourages colleagues of the family-owned footwear business to make a difference in their local communities.

Helen Steels, Volunteer at York Carers Centre is a friend of Christine, which prompted her to apply for the funding; “I know how passionate Helen is, giving up free time for others, the charity gives so much to the local community and they help to – ensure that there is support for families who affected by a loved one’s drinking, drug use or gambling”.

The donation will go towards promoting and funding the charity’s marketplace events, which brings support agencies together across the genres of substance misuse, gambling and alcohol addiction, and provide invaluable information and support to those struggling and their loved ones.

Samantha Ferguson, Training and Volunteer Officer for York Carers Centre talking about the funding said;  “Thank you once again for the £2,000 grant to support carers and their families affected by addiction, we were very excited to meet Christine and Steve and receive the cheque!

This money will enable us to raise awareness and host Substance Misuse Information Marketplace events within the City.  These events will provide a confidential and non-judgemental environment for anyone affected by addiction to seek advice and guidance on how to better cope with a loved one’s drinking, drug use and or gambling. We appreciate how difficult it can be to support someone with a drug or alcohol problem, as well as how difficult it can be to walk in the door and ask for help for the first time.”

The Pavers Foundation is delighted to make this donation to York Carers Centre and continues to make a meaningful impact to the charities and causes close to the hearts of their colleagues.
