Spreading Festive Cheer through Shrewsbury

The Pavers Foundation has donated £500 through the Grant Application scheme, to support a selfless member of the community in Shrewsbury, who goes above and beyond to put a smile on the faces of the elderly at Christmas.

Christine Wright collects empty shoe boxes from her local Pavers Shoes store in Percy Thrower Garden Centre, Shrewsbury, which she then carefully decorated with festive gift wrap. Filled with healthy, easy to open foods; a chocolate santa, Christmas cracker and a card, the boxes are delivered to elderly and vulnerable members of the community who experience social isolation and loneliness, they are most likely be alone at Christmas.

Christine has been creating Christmas gift boxes for the elderly, with her daughter and Aunt, for the past four years. Expressing her excitement upon receiving the donation Christine said;

‘I would like to pass on my sincere thanks to the staff at Percy Thrower for their help over the years, and all at the Foundation. This donation has helped me to create more boxes, which in-turn has helped make a difference for those experiencing loneliness during the Christmas period.’

Manager of Pavers’ Percy Thrower store applied to fund the cause through the Foundation’s grant process. The Foundation was thrilled to donate £500 to the cause which will make a huge difference during the festive period.
