Pavers Foundation Supports John Maurice Aitken Trust!

The Pavers Foundation, employee-led charitable enterprise of York-based family-run retailer Pavers, has recently donated £2,000 to the John Maurice Aitken Trust, on behalf of Rob Burns, Store Manager at Pavers Gretna Green. The JMA trust helps vulnerable groups and individuals across Scotland by making small but meaningful donations to those who need it the most.

The grant was awarded as part of the Foundation’s employee-led grant application scheme which donates to charities and causes nominated by colleagues, which are impactful in areas of health, education and community.

Robert Burns, Store Manager at Gretna, said “I nominated the JMA Trust because I’m aware of the work they do, providing support to individuals and families. This is being directed to those who need it – it is where I live and work, people on my own doorstep. I’ve seen the difference that the JMA Trust is making to individuals and families who have absolutely nothing. The JMA is able to make a difference very quickly and provide the support that families need. I am delighted that they were awarded money from the Pavers Foundation so that they can continue their important work and help those who need it.”

Robert was able to present the donation cheque at the charity’s annual fundraising dinner at the end of November. Christine Aitken, John’s sister and head of the JMA Fundraising and Applications committee, said “We are a small, family run charity that aims to make a real difference by providing small but meaningful donations to those who need it. Since the pandemic, we’ve not been able to generate funds like we used to as many fundraising events have been cancelled. However, we have seen a sharp increase in the number of emergency applications we are receiving. These applications are heart-breaking and are predominantly from families in Dumfries and Galloway that don’t even have the basics like clothing, beds, blankets, etc. The generous funding provided by the Pavers Foundation means that we will be able to provide support to those most in need over the Christmas period. We are hugely grateful for their generosity which will allow us to continue to provide families basics, making their winter a bit more bearable.”

The Pavers Foundation is delighted to support this cause so close to the hearts of its colleagues, and is proud to be able to make a difference to those who need it the most.
