Pavers Foundation Supports Grassroots Football Through NRCFA!

The Pavers Foundation, charitable initiative of leading footwear retailer, Pavers, has recently donated £1,000 to the North Riding County Football Association on behalf of Mark Granger, Chairman of the Pavers Foundation, who submitted an employee-grant application.

The donation will go towards sponsoring the Annual Referees Training Presentation and involving more women in the sport, through the female referees’ development programme which provides support and guidance to women who are just starting out in their refereeing career.

Ross Joyce, Referee Development Manager at NRCFA thanked the Foundation for their donation; “We are delighted that Pavers Foundation has very kindly donated funds that will be critical in the development of Referees within the North Riding County. At the North Riding FA, we are passionate about recruiting, developing, and supporting referees to ensure our workforce is fully representative of our local grassroots community. There are over 22,000 participants currently playing football in some capacity within the county. Without the development of new referees, we would not be able to fulfil the demand across female, male and disability pathway to ensure games are played in a safe and controlled environment. The donation by Pavers Foundation will allow us to continue our training and development of match officials.”

Mark Granger, a keen referee himself in his spare time, applied through the Pavers Foundation’s employee-led grant application scheme, which encourages all colleagues of Pavers to apply for grants for local charities and causes close to their hearts which make a difference in areas of health, education, and community. “Having played Football in the leagues for over 20 years and refereed for the same amount of time, I realise the importance of having a fully qualified official appointed to all games. I hope in our small way the Pavers Foundation can help the NRCFA achieve that objective.”

The Foundation is delighted to support this cause which will make a difference to so many who enjoy grassroots sports across the North Riding. To find out more about the Pavers Foundation please visit their website or watch their story evolve on social media.
