Funding Win for Montpelier Villa Women’s Football Club

The Pavers Foundation has donated £500 to Brighton based, Montpelier Villa Women’s Football Club (MVWFC) through its employee grant application initiative.

Karen Smith, employee at the Pavers store in Brighton and member of the football team, applied for the grant to support the club and their aspiring women’s coach who selflessly dedicates her time to lead the team.

The team, of 25 strong, train and compete weekly in the Sussex County Women and Girls Football League.

MVWFC have struggled to attract coaches and have regularly had members of the team themselves delivering coaching sessions. In 2018 they were approached by an aspiring women’s coach looking to undergo her UEFAB coaching licence. Karen described the wonderful impact this has had on the team; “This injection of coaching experience and having a positive female role model has enabled us to develop technically as players and in confidence”.

Manager and Captain Charlotte expressed thanks to the Foundation:

“We are incredibly grateful to The Pavers Foundation for awarding us the grant. As a grassroots women’s football team, we have found it difficult to attract and retain committed and qualified coaches. The money will be used to contribute to our coaches’ travel costs associated with training sessions and fixtures, ensuring the volunteers are not out of pocket.

The continuity of coaching will enable our players to develop and our team to flourish. We are striving for our most successful season yet.”

The Pavers Foundation is overjoyed to hear of how this donation will help to support the club - we wish all the team a very successful season!
