UK leading family owned-and-run multi-channel shoe retailer Pavers through their charitable Foundation, have recently awarded £1,000 to Marine Academy King’s U9’s team following a grant application from Sarah Hawkins, Store Manager of the Plymouth branch. The donation will go towards buying all-weather training kits for the under 9’s team.
Sarah, whose son has been playing with the junior football club since a young age, applied for the funding through the Foundation’s employee-led grant scheme, which encourages all employees to make a difference to charities benefitting health, education or community.
Sarah Hawkins, Store Manager said; “The reason I chose Marine Academy U9’s was my son has played with them since he was 3 first at just a community session and then progressing into their actual team. It has been so good for him as it has helped to keep him fit and developed him as a person. The coaches and managers put in a lot of their own free time and money to help deliver the training to these boys and this was my way of giving something back”
Stephen Guy, from the Marine Academy Kings explained the impact of the donation, “It's great news! It is so appreciated by me, the boys, parents & family, and everyone involved in the team. We are so grateful for the donation as the team require kits when we return to training safely after lockdown.”
The Pavers Foundation is dedicated to making a meaningful impact on the communities around them. Each year the family business, Pavers, gives 2% of net profit, alongside the total profits from the sale of carrier bags in stores, plus returns from the endowment to ensure the Pavers Foundation can continue to make effective and positive changes in local communities and beyond. To date the Foundation has donated over £913,000 to good causes. These causes tend to be associated with the core three pillars of their philanthropic strategy relating to health, education and the community.
