Pavers Foundation Making a Difference to Belief

We are delighted to announce that Belief, a fundraising group based in Denbighshire, North Wales, has been awarded £500 from the Pavers Foundation following a grant application made by Natalie Graham-Hammons. Natalie, from our Pavers Store based in St Asaph has supported the group for several years, attending many of their social fundraising events.

“The volunteers work tirelessly to arrange various fundraising events, which allows them to make a difference in the local community and help individuals in their time of need. Raising funds throughout the year enables them to be in a position to act quickly as and when required.”

The groups' founder member Steve Evans set up the group in March 2013 with a single aim "to make a difference" in the local community. Belief provides practical help on an individual basis when it is needed most and also provides a boost to local charity run organisations. Membership has steadily grown over the last few years and the fundraising group now has around 85 members. Fundraising activities include quiz nights, games nights, sponsored bike rides and craft fayres.

This particular donation went to support a young lady called Sarah Lou.

Sarah Lou was born premature at 36 weeks with severe brain damage following an epileptic fit that robbed her brain of oxygen for six minutes. Despite being told that Sarah Lou had little chance of surviving due to the severity of her Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy brain damage, her family spent 14 years with her. Sadly Sarah Lou was diagnosed with a terminal heart condition and, as she reached her final days, she became bed-bound and her loving family needed to raise £5000 to buy her a specialist wheeled "Acheeva Bed" to include her in as many activities as possible and make their last happy memories together.

With this donation from the Pavers Foundation, Belief were able to meet their target to help Sarah Lou’s family buy her a bed. Sadly, Sarah Lou passed away in January this year and the family are donating the bed to Ty Gobaith Children’s Hospice.

“We were so pleased to be able to help this loving family meet their target. Many thanks to the Pavers Foundation who have helped us to continue to make a difference to local people in need”
