Links2pink putting heart into the community

Links2Pink is a community focused charity based in Antrim, Northern Ireland established in 2012.

Links2pink run local events to raise funds which support families throughout the Borough who are struggling due to illness or are in difficult circumstances, as such the events help bring the community together which in-turn promotes the health and well-being of those local to Antrim.

Our Pavers colleague Shauna Tweedie from the County Antrim store applied for a £500 grant in memory of her mother, Mary Close.

Shauna with her three sisters

‘Me and my sisters contacted this charity in December 2017, after our mummy, Mary was diagnosed with secondary breast cancer, to see if there was anything that they could do for our family.

Links2pink were more than helpful in our hour of need, unfortunately, we just didn’t have enough time, our mummy passed away in February 2018.

Links2pink organised an amazing family day out with my three sister and the six grandchildren of our family. We went to watch the Belfast Giants at the SSE Arena, the children even got to meet some of the players afterwards. It meant that we got to spend quality time together as a family and show the children that life can be happy too, this is everything that our mummy would have wanted.

As they have been so generous, I would like to give something back with the help of Pavers Foundation, this will also be a huge help future families in a similar situation.

Approximately half of the £500 grant will help to organise a day out for a family similar to ours. The day would cost £250 and would allow the family to spend quality time together where they will make wonderful memories.

The further £250 would be used to buy much needed branded t-shirts and sweatshirts for the Links2pink volunteers. No one at the charity is paid expenses as such this would be a fantastic way to thank the volunteers who helped us so dearly.

I hope many more Pavers employees apply for the grant as this is such an incredible opportunity.’

Links2pink expressed their gratitude to the grant donated by the Pavers Foundation;

‘A big thank you to Shauna and the Pavers Foundation for their very generous donation of £500. We had the absolute honour of helping Shauna and her family during a difficult time last year.’
