We’ve donated £1,000 to leading, national charity, Children with Cancer UK, to help support the fight against the injustice of childhood cancer. Children with Cancer UK funds groundbreaking research and raises awareness to inspire others to support families affected by childhood cancer.
Around 4,500 children and young people are diagnosed with cancer every year in the UK.
Children with Cancer UK have been helping to save lives and keep families together since 1988. The charity was founded by Marion and Eddie O’Gorman, after they lost two children to cancer in 1987, shortly after their heartbreaking news, Eddie and Marion met Diana, Princess of Wales, who was deeply moved by their tragedy. With this, she personally helped establish this incredible charity.
Since 1988, Children with Cancer UK have raised over £250 million to help fight childhood cancer.
Children with Cancer UK currently fund 60 life-saving research projects at centres across the UK. These projects investigate a broad range of childhood cancers, to gain a better understanding of these diseases and, in turn, find more effective ways of treating them.
“We are grateful for the support of the Pavers Foundation – this donation will go towards vital specialist research which looks into the causes, prevention and treatment of childhood cancer.
A £1,000 donation can fund two laboratory fridges, which store heat sensitive samples and substances or supply a laboratory with six months’ worth of chemicals needed to continue research projects. Research is essential to help us improve survival rates and quality of life in young cancer patients.”

This is the third time that the Pavers Foundation has donated to this amazing charity. Following a vote to decide our Charity of the Year, Children with Cancer UK received a runners-up donation of £2,500. To add to this, last year Graham Paver, Trustee of the Pavers Foundation initiated a donation of £1,000 to show his support for the charity.
