Back of the net for Poppleton Junior Football Club

Poppleton Junior Football Club (PJFC) has received a donation of £5,000 from the Pavers Foundation to help fund refurbishments to the club’s kitchen.

Paul Bunce, Head of Distribution at Pavers Head Office and committee member for PJFC, submitted a grant application to support the club.

PJFC is a well-established and progressive junior football club located just West of York, in the village of Poppleton. The club works closely with the Football Association and has strong links with surrounding primary and secondary schools, helping to promote football to the local areas.

The club, which has over 400 members, is entirely run by volunteers who generously offer their time to not only help develop football abilities, but to also support young people with social skills and life skills.

PJFC prides itself on its reasonable and affordable yearly membership fee of just £97.50, which allows children from all types of financial backgrounds to take part. The club hosts several fundraising events throughout the year to ensure that this yearly membership fee remains low and to help fund the upkeep of the club.

The donation from the Pavers Foundation will be put towards extending and updating the club’s kitchen area, which is an important source of income for PJFC. Originally built in 2011, the kitchen is in need of modernisation which they hope in turn, will help to generate further income.

“PJFC is extremely grateful for the generous donation by the Pavers Foundation. The money will help us to reach our goal, which is to provide more room in the kitchen and storage area. On behalf of the committee and all of our players we would like to thank the Pavers Foundation”.
